Miss Saigon. Charity Ride for BFest Wales

I’ve been working on the charity website for BFest Wales. What is this you ask? – My sister in law has decided to take part in the Saigon to Angkor Wat Bike ride in 2014 to raise money for charity. Check the poster here

The Challenge.

This challenge entails cycling 450kms past plantations, across waterways and through villages. She will ride deep through the heart of the lush Mekong Delta in Vietnam, to the dry lands and contrasting sights of ancient Cambodia.

The journey travels past temples and countless colourful pagodas, havens of calm and tranquillity – not to mention bustling markets! The route wanders off the beaten track into the Mekong proper.

Few locals will have seen foreigners cycling past, and their interest and hospitality will spur even the most tired cyclist to keep on pedalling.

Finally, the end destination is the town of Siem Reap from where cyclists can explore the ancient city of Angkor. Angkor represents one of humankind’s most astonishing architectural achievements and in 1992 was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Bike Riding to BFest.

It sounds like hard work, but the adventure looks amazing. Before you can take part in this challenge, you must raise around £3000 for the charity of your choice. Then once you do this, you can apply to do the challenge. It’s quite a feat, – ALL Proceeds will go to the charity of choice and my sister-in-law AKA Our Pam, will fund the trip out of her own pocket. She is also working on the event BFest to raise money for the cause.

So, the worthy charity in question is ‘Welsh Women’s Aid’ which is the national umbrella organisation representing local Women’s Aid Groups situated throughout Wales. Our member groups provide direct services for women and children who have experienced or are experiencing domestic abuse.

throughout the next twelve months. ‘Our Pam’ will be partaking in lots of things to raise sponsorship for Welsh Women’s Aid. So what better way to raise money than a jolly local festival?  Are you in the area around Aug 31st? Be sure to lend your support and enjoy some nice music, food, drink and fun activity!
